Getty Images Engages World's Top Interactive Designers to Explore Innovation in Imagery '10 ways'

Online Exhibit Invites Creatives and Communicators to Interact, Play and Experience

SEATTLE, Wash., June 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Getty Images, Inc. (NYSE: GYI) today announced the launch of 10 ways, an interactive online exhibit and discussion forum that explores the spectrum of visual possibilities offered by digital media. Visitors to http://www.gettyimages.com/10ways are able to view imagery through the lens of 10 key concepts which have been brought to life by five of the world's most influential interactive designers:

- Sumona, South Africa - light, information
- The Barbarian Group, USA - memory, space
- Tomato, UK - "+" (the power to evoke a uniquely personal reaction), emotion
- Less Rain, Germany - color, truth
- Great Works, Sweden - time, transformation

At its core, 10 ways responds to the marketing and entertainment industries' growing need to reach consumers on a personal, emotional level, especially through online and mobile platforms.

"Attention spans are shortening and, as a result, messaging is becoming ever more visual," said Lewis Blackwell, senior vice president and group creative director at Getty Images. "Who has time for words when a compelling picture can convey an idea so much more quickly, and with such heightened resonance? While these 10 creations are highly playful, they also serve as a catalyst for an important dialogue about the evolution of communication."

Getty Images, the world's leading creator and distributor of still and moving images, chose its elite group of 10 ways designers in recognition of their contributions to the sophistication of creativity in the interactive realm. Collectively, these five design experts have received multiple industry accolades, ranging from a bevy of One Show Gold Pencils to the coveted Yahoo! Big Idea Chair. In the U.S., Boston-based The Barbarian Group is perhaps best known for bringing to life Burger King's Subservient Chicken, the proverbial golden egg that has prompted more than 100 million visits to http://www.subservientchicken.com/.

"The 10 ways project gave us the opportunity to identify specific qualities that make certain images particularly effective for use in new media," said Benjamin Palmer, co-founder and president of The Barbarian Group. "When you're trying to reach a consumer on their iPod or cell phone rather than their television set, the rules of design are redefined."

In the spirit of interactivity, visitors to the 10 ways website are able to share their observations and insights by participating in an online discussion. This unique forum is designed to serve as a creative resource for innovators around the world.

Early in its debut, 10 ways has already registered more than 290,000 global visitors.
