John Thawley Announces Exploring Speed and Light 2006 Photo Collection
2006 American Le Mans Series Photo Journal
DETROIT - Motorsports photographer, John Thawley, announced today the release of his latest photographic journal, Exploring Speed and Light, a photo diary of his year following the 2006 American Le Mans Series. The hard bound book features 158 pages of full color photography documenting Thawley’s visual interpretation of the 2006 season.
“2006 was an outstanding year and I feel I’ve captured the true essence of the racing, the people and the technology,” Thawley continued. “The cars are presented in breathtaking colors and set against the finest racing backdrops in North America.”
“I’m pleased with the direction of this year’s book,” expressed Thawley. “Once again, we’ve raised the bar over previous years. This year’s book has three times as many pages and is complete with a full color dust jacket. It surpasses everything we’ve produced in the past. As an added bonus I’ve included a section from the winter testing that features the first appearance of the Audi diesel powered R10 prototype and Dyson’s early development of the LMP 1 Lolas. The inaugural race from Miller Motorsports Park also provides an historic view of North America’s newest facility and a unique look at endurance racing in the desert. On a personal note, I don’t mind saying, this year’s images are my best work ever.”
“In past seasons,” Thawley continued, “my books have been pre-formatted to suit a theme. We’ve featured Top-10 drivers or Championship standings and tailored the books to suit specific concepts. This year, based on feedback from customers and supporters of my work, I’ve chosen to simply let the images speak for themselves. The reader will see what I saw. I’m excited about that.”
In addition to tripling the size of the book, Thawley’s 2006 Exploring Speed and Light is being released at an introductory price of $59.95 plus shipping. Exploring Speed and Light can be purchased online from American Le Mans Collection at www.almscollection.com, Wheels On Walls at www.wheelsonwalls.com and Thawley’s personal site at http://www.johnthawley.com.
